Strong policy and effective governance are at the heart of a thriving sports sector. As Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), I focused on laying down a solid foundation for fairness, accountability, and long-term support for our athletes and institutions. Through key directives and structural reforms, I aimed to make our sports ecosystem more responsive, transparent, and future-ready.
Sports Insurance Directive
One of my foremost priorities was the safety and well-being of our sports community. I introduced the Sports Insurance Directive to provide a comprehensive safety net for athletes, coaches, referees, and sports officials. This initiative ensures that those dedicating their lives to sports have access to necessary support in times of injury or emergency. It was a crucial step toward making our sports system more secure and compassionate.
Employee Promotions within NSC
After nearly two decades without formal promotions, I made it a point to recognize and uplift the hardworking employees of the NSC. Breaking a 17-year gap, I initiated long-overdue internal promotions. This decision significantly boosted morale and demonstrated that dedication and service within the Council would not go unnoticed. I consider this not just a policy move but a gesture of respect for the people who keep our sports administration running.
Categorization of Sports Federations
To enhance efficiency and transparency, I introduced a categorization system for national sports federations. This system helps assess and organize federations based on their performance, governance practices, and activity levels. It allows for more strategic support and resource allocation, ensuring that federations that excel receive the encouragement they deserve while others are guided toward improvement.
International Medalists' Prize Directive
Celebrating our athletes’ achievements on the global stage has always been close to my heart. I implemented the International Medalists’ Prize Directive to institutionalize rewards for Nepali athletes who win medals at international events. This legal framework not only honors their dedication but also serves as a powerful motivator for upcoming talents. Our athletes deserve consistent recognition, not just applause, but tangible support.
