As the Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Nepal, I embarked on a transformative journey aimed at optimizing the structure and functionality of sports federations across the nation. Recognizing the imperative to streamline operations and maximize efficiency, I spearheaded a concerted effort to address the proliferation of inactive and ineffective federations, consolidating them into a leaner, more impactful framework conducive to the holistic development of sports.

At the outset, I initiated a comprehensive assessment of the existing landscape of sports federations, meticulously evaluating their operational capacity, relevance, and impact on the broader sports ecosystem. Through rigorous analysis and stakeholder consultations, it became evident that a significant portion of the nearly 200 federations were either dormant or lacked the requisite resources and capacity to fulfill their mandates effectively.

Undeterred by the magnitude of the task at hand, I embarked on a series of diplomatic engagements and collaborative initiatives aimed at rationalizing the federation structure and fostering synergies among stakeholders. Leveraging my expertise in diplomatic negotiation and consensus-building, I facilitated constructive dialogues with federation representatives, government officials, and sports stakeholders, advocating for a paradigm shift towards a more streamlined and agile federation model.

Through persistent advocacy and strategic intervention, I succeeded in garnering widespread support for the downsizing of federations, emphasizing the need for consolidation to optimize resource allocation, enhance accountability, and maximize impact. Working in tandem with legal experts and policymakers, we devised a transparent and inclusive process for the official recognition and registration of federations under the purview of national sports legislation.

As a result of these concerted efforts, we achieved a significant milestone by downsizing the number of officially recognized and registered federations to a two-digit figure, marking a transformative shift towards a more cohesive and effective sports governance framework. By prioritizing quality over quantity and fostering collaboration and alignment among federations, we laid the groundwork for a more resilient, responsive, and sustainable sports ecosystem poised for dynamic growth and development.

This achievement not only underscores our unwavering commitment to institutional excellence and strategic foresight but also sets a precedent for best practices in sports governance with far-reaching implications for the advancement of sports in Nepal.
