Sports are not only about competition – they’re also about learning, inclusion, and community building. Throughout my leadership at the National Sports Council, I have prioritized integrating sports into educational institutions, professionalizing franchise leagues, and expanding opportunities for all, including para-athletes. These efforts aim to build a stronger, more connected society where sports uplift lives at every level.

Educational Integration

To strengthen the connection between academics and athletics, I collaborated with leading institutions such as Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University, and Gandaki University to integrate sports into their academic curriculums. This initiative promotes sports education, research, and career opportunities, encouraging students to view athletics not just as a pastime, but as a field of study and profession. It lays the foundation for a more informed, science-driven sports culture in Nepal.

Empowering Franchise Leagues

Professional leagues play a vital role in elevating both the quality and visibility of sports. I provided strategic support to Nepal’s growing franchise system, including the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Nepal Super League (NSL), and national leagues in Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Basketball. These leagues have helped professionalize sports, create jobs, and attract private sector investment—bringing new energy and structure to Nepal’s sporting landscape.

Para-Sports Development

Inclusivity is a key measure of any nation’s sports progress. I introduced structured plans to support para-sports development across Nepal, ensuring that athletes with disabilities receive equal access to training and competition. A major milestone was the successful organization of the Para National Games, which have become a launching pad for athletes aiming to win international medals. These efforts are transforming para-sports from the margins to the mainstream.
